About Porto Montenegro

Porto Montenegro is a luxury marina village on the Tivat waterfront, built on the site of the former Arsenal — the naval base and shipyard that served the Austro-Hungarian and later Yugoslav fleets. Since opening in 2009 it has become one of the Mediterranean's premier superyacht destinations, a curated stretch of waterfront where berths, residences, boutiques and restaurants sit around a palm-lined promenade. It is not a separate town but the modern centrepiece of Tivat, and for many visitors it is the most polished introduction to the Bay of Kotor — a place to walk, dine and watch the yachts come and go against a backdrop of mountains and open water.

Arriving by private boat transfer from Kotor

The most fitting way to arrive at Porto Montenegro is by water. The road from Kotor loops the long way around the bay through the Verige strait, but a private boat transfer crosses the bay directly and berths you right inside the marina — no parking, no detour, and a first view of the waterfront from the sea. The marina, yachts & dining

Beyond the berths, Porto Montenegro is built to be walked. The promenade is lined with boutiques and waterfront restaurants, from relaxed cafés to fine dining, and the Lido Mar saltwater pool draws a summer crowd. The Naval Heritage Collection — including a pair of preserved submarines — tells the story of the old Arsenal, a reminder that this glossy marina was once a working military port. Evenings here are the social heart of Tivat, with the yachts lit up along the quay.

Porto Montenegro is the marina district of Tivat — pair a visit with the town's beaches, the Island of Flowers and the wider bay. Tivat Airport is only a few minutes away, which makes the marina a common first or last stop on a Montenegro trip. From here it is also easy to continue by water across the bay to Kotor, Perast or any of the bay's other stops — the same private boat that brings you in can take you onward.
